AAXA Technologies announces the release of its P1 micro projector. Combining off-the-shelf components with AAXA's proprietary LCOS chip, AAXA's micro projector brings affordability to the pocket projector market while improving brightness and image quality. Weighing in at 6 ounces and no larger than most PDAs, this diminutive unit projects a usable 12 lumens at a resolution of 640x480. The unit is capable of producing excellent picture quality and brightness in dark lighting conditions. Do not confuse the AAXA P1 pico projector with similar knock-offs. It features a superior optical engine and LCOS image for bigger, brighter, clearer images. The P1 has no image edge distortion and offers superior video processing for smoother, cleaner videos.
Picture quality is excellent in darker conditions even with a 60" picture. In lit rooms the P1 is capable of producing small sized pictures.* Multiple input sources are accepted including VGA, Composite, as well as direct hook-ups to Ipods, Iphones, PSPs, and a myriad of cell phones. With 1GB built in and a micro SD card port the storage capacity is virtually unlimited. The onboard file menu and decoder plays virtually all media formats including AVI, WMA, JPG, GIF, etc. Battery life is rated at 45 to 60 minutes (depending on speaker use) and replacement battery packs are available. With an MSRP of $219 included with the projector is battery, composite input cable, and charger. Ipod / Iphone, PSP, and other input adapters are available separately.

Q. How does the AAXA P1 Pico Projector compare vs similar products on the market?
A. Many mobile projectors have attempted to copy our pico projector design. The AAXA P1 distinguishes itself from inferior copies with its superior optics and LCoS design. The AAXA P1 mobile projector's advantages include:

Q. What type of image quality will the P1 projector produce in a bright room?
A. Because of the limitations of LED technology, this projector will produce at best a 12" image in a bright room.
Q. What type of image quality will the P1 projector product in a dark room?
A. In a dark room this projector will produce a good quality 60"+ image, and a very good quality 50" image.
Q. How can I get a brighter image from the P1 Pico projector?
A. The brightness of the projector is dependent on the type of surface being projected on. A high-gain projector screen will substantially enhance image brightness. In fact, it is possible to achieve over 100" images with a high gain projector screen in a dark theater environment.
Q. Can the P1 projector play Power Point Slides?
A. In order to play power-point slides you can convert your power-point slides to .JPG files by saving the presentation as .JPG images. The P1 projector can then play the .jpg images in series.
Q. Can the P1 Projector be operated with the AC / Wall charger only?
A. Yes, the P1 Pico projector can be operated with the AC adapter only, with our without the battery connected. Unlike other pico projectors, the operating time of the P1 Pico is unlimited (will not overheat).
Q. Can the P1 projector connect directly to a laptop?
A. The P1 is currently only compatible with a limited number of laptops with a composite video output. We do offer an Universal VGA Adapter that will allow the P1 to connect directly to all laptops with a VGA output.
Q. I am experiencing difficulty getting some video files to playback properly (ie audio out of sync). How do I correct the video playback?
A. Some video files exhibit issues or errors during playback due to the poor adherence to encoding standards used to generate the files. Fortunately, there is a freeware program that can convert the video files with issues to properly formatted video files (Format Factory Media Converter). The default settings in the conveter are sufficient, but you can adjust some settings to optimize the file size and image quality. The FLV format is compatible with Real Media Player and it uses an efficient compression method that is also compatible with the internet and You-Tube. If minimizing file size is not a priority, AVI is a good choice becuase it's compatible with Windows Media Player and most other viewers.
